What if your lamp grew itself? Set in the year 2050, VÄXA is a Grow-It-Yourself lamp that imagines a future where biological processes replace manufacturing lines. The project speculates on a world where living systems are the raw material, and the act of growing an object is as intentional as designing one. The project situates itself in a future where we integrate living organisms into our lives as active participants in a shared ecosystem, moving beyond their use as mere tools or materials. This envisions a future where living artefacts foster new ways of relating to our surroundings, prompting a reconsideration of our relationship with the natural world and the role of living matter in our designed environment.
